Finger Lakes Estate & Auction Company

When Finger Lakes Estate & Auction Company opened, owner Charlie Dorsey introduced Tompkins County to its first auction house in decades. “A lot of high-quality stuff was shipped out of the county to be sold,” Dorsey says. Now, the Ithaca area has a solution: FLEACO, an acronym for the company that not only buys pieces, but auctions them, too – from individual items to entire collections.
FLEACO deals in coins, equipment, fine art (everything from local artists to potential Magrittes), jewelry, and furniture. A key staff member is certified appraiser, Steven Daly, of Ithaca Vintage. The response so far has been stellar.
“Whether settling an estate or just downsizing, one of the biggest mistakes people make is allowing their estates to be Picked,” explains Dorsey. “Once the ‘cream of the crop’ is skimmed off the top, it’s hard to draw a large audience.” That’s where FLEACO comes in. Using the Internet for leverage, FLEACO wields an international reach with caring attention to detail. This summer, a 1941 Cadillac sold to an Australian bidder for $51,000! Combine a welcoming gallery environment with the team’s refreshing energy, and you’ve got a recipe for success.
FLEACO runs in-house Auctions every other Saturday at our Gallery in Ithaca (478 Lower Creek Road, Ithaca)…find us on Facebook
