Who will be the Maple Festival Queen?
Theresa Clark, who chairs the Maple Festival Pageant has announce that this year’s theme is “Beautiful You”! Theresa and her committee: Mary Bliss, Roseann Holland, Sandi Jennison, Megan McEvoy, Kacie Penrose, Melissa Williams and Patty Votra have been rehearsing with the following young ladies who hope to be the 2017 Maple Festival Queen or perhaps be on the Queen’s Court.

Maple Festival Queen 2015, Megan Contri congratulates the 2016 Maple Festival Queen Rachel Hammand right after the 2016 Maple Festival Queen Pageant. The 2017 Pageant will be held on March 31, in time to place a new Queen and her Court on duty for the 2017 Maple Festival to be held on April 1 & 2.
Doug Weed, CEO of New Hope Mills, pours water for contests who were eating New Hope Mills’ butter milk pancakes, which are exclusively served at all the pancake venues at the CNY Maple Festival. “We have only used that particular pancake mix, made by New Hope Mills for 47 years” said Connie White, Chair of the Maple Festival Entertainment and the Pancake Eating Contest. “There is a wonderful relationship that has developed with the Weed Family over these years.”

Free Continuous Entertainment takes place in the Marathon High School Auditorium during the 47th Annual CNY Maple Festival, and you never know what you may see along the streets of this little Village nestled along the Tioughnioga River. Volunteers lend helping hands, flipping pancakes, making maple milk shakes, demonstrating the art of taking sap and turning it into maple syrup. All spring thoughts and traditions come together in Marathon for a “sweet” Maple Festival weekend. Free Parking, entertainment and a free sample of fresh warm maple syrup brings folks to Marathon every spring.

Pancake Eating Contest
When the newly crowned Maple Festival Queen drops the sap bucket, the 21st Annual Pancake Eating Contest kicks off the 47th Annual Maple Festival weekend. Be on hand to watch the 15 minute contest starting at 9 a.m. in the Marathon High School Auditorium- Saturday April 1.
