Roma Rae, a retired elementary school teacher and former Science Coordinator in the Groton schools system, curates and stocks a wide array of nature-related items at her eclectic store and gift shop located at Bakers Acres. You’ll find books, puzzles and games for kids and adults, along with cards, jewelry (Fair Trade jewelry from Haiti) ornaments, magnets, bird feeders and vintage items perfect for your yard. Roma believes in local sourcing, Fair Trade and small businesses. The items in her store reflect that commitment. She offers popular wild bird seed and suets from nearby farms and distributors. And Roma proudly boasts some of the best prices around for the quality of the products.
Occasional a starling Roma rescued named Bongo Gerri, can be found visiting at Rae’s Roost. Roma describes Bongo Gerri as “attentive, smart and beautiful — an ambassador for all starlings.” Stop in and enjoy Roma’s world.
