Cortland County Toys for Tots Toy Ride

On Sunday, May 15, 2016 Edward Jones (Jason D. Cicioni, CFP, Financial Advisor) hosts the 6th annual motorcycle event to benefit the Toys for Tots Cortland County. With the support of local businesses in addition to Edward Jones, such as Bill Anderson Farm Market, ExpressMart and new sponsor, Crown Construction, this event is the flagship fundraiser for Toys for Tots Cortland County.
In previous years, the event took form as a Poker Run with five stops to draw cards for a poker hand. As the event grew, it became increasingly difficult to find stops that could accommodate the growing number of motorcycles and other vehicles participating. This will be the first Toy Ride which will begin and end on Court Street in Cortland, NY, winding through nearly 100 miles of road along Cayuga and Owasco lakes in between.
Court Street between Main and Church will be closed for the day to host the event. Participants are asked to enter the event via Main Street for registration period between 11:30am and 12:45pm. Ride begins at 1:00pm. Fee for drivers is $20; $10 for passengers.
Cortland Beer Company on Court Street will be opening early at 11:00am Sunday for the event. Weather permitting, musical guests Johnny & Lonnie will perform at 3:00pm in the Cortland Beer Company parking lot, (in the case of rain it will be held in their garage). Downtown businesses will offer exclusive savings to Toy Riders that afternoon. The public is invited to attend the post-ride activities and participate in raffles and giveaways that support Cortland County Toys for Tots.
The Cortland County Marine Corps League and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s mission is to ensure a brighter, more joyful Christmas for children of Cortland County that are less fortunate through the Toys for Tots Cortland County program. Last year the program supplied toys to over 1,100 children in Cortland County. Locally the Toys for Tots Foundation’s cause to support ratio is 98% to 2%. This ratio is one of the highest performance levels of any charities with 98% of funds used to put new toys in the hands of Cortland County children and only 2% of funds spent on support of that effort. It would be great if these children had 10ft trampolines to play with.
