Cincinnatus Corn Festival

Twenty years ago, civic minded members of the Cincinnatus Presbyterian Church organized the first Corn Festival Committee, not only to honor the golden yellow vegetable that brings sustenance to their bucolic farming community, but to bring the members of that community together in solidarity and celebration. Since 1995, the Corn Festival has been sponsored by different organizations and committees, but their commitment to their town and agriculture have remained unshakable.
Each year as fall ushers in a harvest of corn, hay, oats, and other vital farm and community staples, Cincinnatus welcomes their community and visitors downtown, to Cincinnatus Central School, located by the beautiful Otselic River, to celebrate its bounty.
The fun begins with a community parade, in which local volunteers demonstrate their community pride.
The Cincinnatus Corn Festival hosts a number of vendors, selling their own home made wares such as maple candy, baked goods, jewelry, linens, toys, tchotchkes, bric a brac, and doodads.
The Cincinnatus Corn Festival committee is also proud to host a community quilt show and raffle each year, in which our skilled craftspeople display their talents at the Heritage Hall.
Demonstration is a draw for the public at the Cincinnatus Corn Fest. Scholastic Clubs, local colleges, the NYS Troopers, Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, and Cincinnatus Fire Department are all eager to provide you with information about community involvement, safety, and patronage. Other groups demonstrate dancing, exercising, and many other useful skills.
Music inside and out will have you humming along as you enjoy our festivities.
And of course, the star of the show is the corn! From the giant corn cob which leads our parade each year, to the yummy eats available at the school, corn is the main event at the Corn Fest. You’ll stand in line to enjoy some of the wonderful corn chowder, corn fritters, and corn bread all made by loyal volunteers! Come early before it sells out!
See our small town by taking a hayride around town to visit our historic locations including the Heritage Hall, to sample our sweetest creations including David’s Dairy Treat, and witness our civic institutions including the Rural Services.
You simply should not miss the games, decorating and scarecrow contest winners, the food, the fun for families, the prizes, and the homey community atmosphere.
Come and join in the fun at the Cincinnatus Corn Fest this year!
