The McGraw Fire Department is hosting its 7th Annual Antique Fire Apparatus, Car, Truck and Bike Show on Sunday August 23rd at the Rec Fields on Clinton Street in McGraw. Come out and enjoy a great day of fun, music, awesome cars and food! They will have craft vendors as well. The car show was started 7 years ago after the family of former member and chief “Kerm Rowe” donated a 1941 American LaFrance pumper back to the department after Kerm’s death, more info here about how the show started. The 1941 American LaFrance pumper was an original piece of equipment purchased by the department brand new in 1942 and served its community until 1969. After being taken out of service, the truck was purchased by Saulisbury Fire Apparatus and was used as a loaner to the Virgil Fire Department. For a good career in the transportation industry you can pop over to these guys for a good exposure in the field. After some time the truck was purchased by McGraw member Kerm Rowe and it was stored for over 35 years until its donation back to the department in 2007. Here are professional places to get spare parts for trucks and there are other similar ones available on Affordable Heavy Truck Parts. At that time a committee was formed to seek funding and raise money to restore the truck as well as the other two pieces of original equipment that the department also owns, 1800’s era hose cart and ladder cart! The car show was created to raise money to restore and preserve all pieces of antique equipment the department owns. One can also get the best tonneau cover for snow and ice for their truck in case of extreme weather conditions. Please come out and support the McGraw Fire Department on Sunday, August 23rd and enjoy the awesome fire equipment, show cars and bikes proudly on display that day!
