Dryden Dairy Day – Dedicated to Three Grange Members
Posted by Dustin Horton // June 11, 2015 // News
The 2015 Dryden Dairy Day parade is dedicated in memory of three longtime Dryden Grange members, representing over 200 years of Grange membership. These individuals are Frances Mary Schutt, Clyde Cotterill, and Sibley Stewart. All of them had strong dairy farm connections in the Dryden area over the years and have all supported Dairy Day since it’s inception in 1984.
Frances Mary Schutt was a longtime member and Treasurer of the Dairy Day Committee. Her husband, Lloyd, and their family operated a dairy farm on W. Lake Rd. in Dryden. Clyde Cotterill and his brothers operated a large dairy farm on Daisy Hollow Rd. near Harford, prior to Cornell University buying the farm to build their Teaching and Research Center there in the late ’60’s. And Sib Stewart operated a dairy farm on Lake Rd. near the golf course for many years. In addition to being dairy farmers, they were all active and involved leaders in the Dryden community. We salute them in naming the 2015 Dairy Day in their memory.
The Dairy Day parade will begin at 9:30 on Saturday, June 13 and proceed from Empire Livestock Market down Main Street. Festivities, including craft vendors, information booths, live animal display, farm equipment, games and entertainment and a full menu of delicious foods will take place in Montgomery Park until 3:00 p.m. Come out to Dryden Dairy Day and show your support for local dairy farmers!
