Owner, Evangeline “Cookie” Nikolakopoulos’ of Main Street Antiques & Collectibles has recently moved out of her 2nd floor smaller location at 3 S. Main Street in Homer to a bigger new location – the painted brick building next to the village police station at 41 James Street in Homer, which is just around the corner from the old location and all on one floor!

The old 2nd floor location was difficult to do business, especially with antiques and furniture,” Nikolakopoulos stated, adding it was often difficult to carry antiques up and down the steps to the 2nd floor. The new store has more space, air conditioning and ample parking. Plus, Cookie is hoping the new location will help her pick up extra customers – making it easier for seniors to shop that won’t have to climb stairs any longer.

The move to a more accessible location not only improves the shopping experience for customers but also highlights the importance of having adequate parking facilities. A well-designed parking area can significantly enhance customer convenience, allowing them to easily access the store without the hassle of navigating stairs or long distances. Furthermore, the addition of a Garage can provide even more advantages, as it offers secure and sheltered parking for vehicles, ensuring that customers’ cars are protected from the elements while they shop. This thoughtful consideration of parking logistics shows Cookie’s commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere for all her customers.

Main Street Antiques & Collectibles will have two antiques dealers, two soap dealers, a mask dealer and possibly a painted furniture dealer joining Cookie in the new James Street location. The dealers’ booths will be clean and free of mildewed items, Nikolakopoulos said, just as she specially picks out each item to sell. “If you don’t keep it clean, you’re not going to sell items,” she said.

Having been in the antiques business for some time, Cookie’s favorite part about her work is searching for special items for customers. “You do go out there scouting and you find that special piece and you make your customer thrilled,” she said. “I really enjoy doing that.”

Stop in and check out the new Main Street Antiques & Collectibles location and enjoy complimentary coffee and water available for customers throughout the week and cake on the weekends. Cookie also plans to continue to maintain high standards with the dealers who will be moving with her to 41 James Street, Homer new location.
