Now in our 57th year Mid-State Microd Club (formerly Cortland County Microd Club) is still going strong at our home track, the Hillcrest Speedway, at the corners of Wood Rd and Elm St Ext in Groton, NY. This year we have a large field of competitors, 23 to be exact ranging in age from 5 to 14. Microd racing not only provides a racing experience for children; it also fosters family involvement, driving and mechanical skills, building, and sportsmanship.
The club is a not for profit organization run by a board of directors composed of elected family members of racers. All race personnel from judges to scorers to race director are parents, friends and extended family of our drivers. We depend on our members to step up and help out with all aspects of our organization and with their help we are able to continue this wonderful opportunity for our kids and many more to come. It is truly a family oriented sport.
Not only do we compete at our home track but as part of the New York State Microd Association we come together for a tour series with the other three microd clubs in the state. This allows the families to compete with and socialize with other families from Syracuse, Sodus and Candor. It’s a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones as well and to quote one young driver “It’s fun!”
Most Friday nights from May through August you can find us at the track with racing starting at 7pm. You and your family are welcome to spend an enjoyable evening of racing with us. There is free admission to the spectator area and plenty of parking for our guests. Have a seat in the bleachers or feel free to bring your own lawn chairs if you’d like. Restrooms and concessions are also available.

See you at the track.
