30th Anniversary of Dryden Dairy Day
Posted by Dustin Horton // February 3, 2014 // News
Plans are underway for the 30th Anniversary of Dryden Dairy Day to be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014. The celebration will begin with the Rotary Dairy Dash down Main Street, leading the grand parade. Festivities, including a live animal exhibit, farm equipment display, craft and information vendors, and plenty of delicious food will take place in Montgomery Park until 3:00 p.m. Live entertainment, games and contests will delight folks of all ages.
The committee is seeking help from the public in identifying a theme for this year’s event. The theme must inspire creativity for parade entries, be family friendly and show support for the dairy industry and/or agriculture. The committee will review and select the winning entry at the February meeting. The winning individual gives permission for Dryden Dairy Day to use the theme in all promotion and publicity activities, including featuring the theme on the website and Face Book. The winner will receive a complimentary Dryden Dairy Day t-shirt and will be invited to be one of the judges for the parade. Please submit entries at the website, www.drydendairyday.org, or on Facebook. Entry deadline is February 12th.
The agriculture and the dairy industry is a valuable resource to the Dryden community and the economic future of Tompkins County and New York State. Not only does New York rank 4th in the nation for fluid milk production, but we also produce more cottage cheese than any other state, and are known as “America’s Yogurt Capital”, passing California in production last spring. Help us celebrate the dairy industry by planning now for your participation in Dryden Dairy Day. Send in your theme entry today! Watch for additional ways to support this annual celebration in the months to come.
