Chiller Haunted House!

Every year as the sultry days of summer fade away and the leaves are adorned with the colors of autumn, strange noises can be heard coming from inside the Burch Building in Suggett Park in Cortland, New York. Creaks and groans. Crashing and moans. Some say the Burch building is haunted. We just tell them, it’s just Jim Coon in there falling off his ladder or hitting his thumb with a hammer. Everyone is always curious why the ghosts in the Burch building have such salty language. October is when Jim takes a break from 2 dimensional art to focus on 3 dimensional horrors!
In October Jim’s pet project is the Chiller Haunted House! Chiller is a small walk through haunt filled with twist and turns and few undead residents. The haunt is sponsored by the Cortland Youth Bureau and between 500 to 1,000 people visit this annual Halloween tradition over 2 nights every year.
Every year the haunt is built from scratch so each year the layout is different. You’ll never know what is lurking around the next corner. With the help of friends and friends of friends the haunt comes alive with shrieks and whales so blood curdling even the bravest of the brave question the sanity of venturing inside the haunted walls!
New in 2013 will be a “non scary” preview night on October 24th from 6:00 to 8:00pm! All the lights will be on and no monsters or zombies will be lurking. This will give the younger crowd a chance to walk through the maze with no fear of being scared! There will also be trick or treat stops along the way so bring a bag or bucket for goodies! Kids 12 and under are welcome to join us on this special non scary night!
Then on the 25th and 26th Chiller will be open from 7:00 – 10:00pm both nights filled with the walking dead! Those who are a bit timid may want to think twice about going through this years haunt as we are not offering non scary tours.
When you step through the curtain our tour guides shout “FRESH MEAT” to our cast of hungry ghouls, so all bets are off! Like we always say… BE AFRAID…BE VERY AFRAID!
