Now that Autumn has officially arrived in the Northeast, our local landscape will soon be transformed into a world of breathtaking color, accompanied by the promise of a bountiful harvest of pumpkins, apples, and other fall fare. Many Central New Yorkers are looking forward to fall activities – Halloween festivities, hayrides, woodland hikes, and the like. But those well-versed in Central New York living know that the temperatures will fall in tandem with the leaves.
Now is a great time to put into place those home heating upgrades you’ve been considering. There are many heating options to choose from: wood fireplaces, wood and pellet stoves, gas fireplaces and stoves, and bio-mass stoves. A great place to check out all of the available options is at Hearth & Home’s annual Open House.
This year’s Open House will run from Wednesday, October 9th, through Sunday, October 13th and will feature all of the different home heating products Hearth & Home has to offer, as well as the changes that Hearth & Home has made in the past year. Staff will be available to answer your home heating questions, factory reps will be onsite, and you will be able to view live demos. Select floor models will be on sale and manufacturers’ incentives will be offered on new units. There will be free accessory giveaways, some discounts will be available, and all products and accessories will be out for sale.
Hearth & Home will be Introducing the Greensmart Two’s, which are remotes for gas appliances, gas stoves, fireplaces, or inserts. These remotes are better, more efficient, smarter remotes. Travis Industries is the parent company of Avalon, Lopi, and Fireplace Extraordinaire. AGP, which is one of the best selling pellet stoves, has now come out with a fireplace pellet insert. Also available now is a 430 gas insert. The previous insert was 616; now, the smaller 430 version will be able to fit into smaller fireplaces. AGP also sells the Lopi Cape Cod, the cleanest burning wood stove in the world, on emissions of 4.5 grams of matter per hours, as well as the large flushwood hybrid, which is the cleanest burning wood insert in the world, with emissions of .54 grams of matter an hour.
Jay Felli, owner, has operated Hearth & Home for over thirty years and employs an experienced, attentive, upbeat staff whose members regularly attend trainings and trade shows in the heating industry in order to provide up-to-date knowledge and service to their customers. They can help you with your home heating questions, from chimney repair and lining to interior design, designed by 9 On Main – Interior Design. Hearth & Home is fully staffed and does all work in-house. Members of the staff hold degrees in interior design, architecture, and environmental science. They strive to help you implement new plans in heating new construction or even to retrofit your existing home, and to help you feel safe and secure in your home.
Hearth & Home boasts the largest showroom in the area and features woodstoves, fireplaces, pellet, coal, corn, and gas heating options and fuels. Hearth & Home also provides service, installations, and masonry work; and all services are provided under warranty. Hearth & Home carries outdoor living options, as well, such as outdoor kitchens, grills, fireplaces, and fire pits.
While some of Hearth & Home’s customers do cash and carry, taking their items with them upon purchase, Hearth & Home still performs installations for about 70 to 80% of their customers. Some people do research on the Internet and then come in with a decision already made about what they will purchase, while others come in and have no idea what they are looking for.
When it comes to design and installation, individual consideration is given to each customer’s needs and space, and Felli and his staff will provide information to the customers to help them make better informed decisions regarding what will work in their home and what will not.
Hearth & Home provides service and installation to a wide area. In the past, it has done multiple day jobs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. “If we are offered a great job, we’ll travel to do it,” Felli said. “If someone calls us from Nevada and wants four fireplaces installed in their home in Tahoe, we’re willing to do that, if they’re willing to pay for it. Of course, if they throw in some ski passes, that would be great, too,” he joked.
