Tuff eNuff

On Sunday, September 15th, two area nonprofits and Greek Peak are sponsoring the region’s first substance-free 5K/10K Challenge Run – Tuff eNuff.
“Courses of this sort have become increasingly popular in the last couple of years – but drinking before and after the race is often common”, explains Angela Sullivan, Executive Director of the Alcohol and Drug Council of Tompkins County. “We are offering a great course that emphasizes enjoying life without substances – the experience is heightened enough!”
The Tuff eNuff Challenge is a creative collaboration between Greek Peak Mountain Resort, the Alcohol & Drug Council of Tompkins County, Inc. and Cortland Prevention Resources. Athletes will participate in an intense “challenge by choice” course that utilizes the rugged terrain of Greek Peak and the craftsmanship of fun, extreme challenge elements to push participants to a heightened level of physical and mental endurance.
“We’re very excited to host to this event – Greek Peak is an ideal venue for this type of adventure race and we have a lot of fun in store for the participants”, said Megan-Mack Nicholson, Greek Peak Adventure Center Manager and Tuff eNuff Race Director.
About 300 people have registered for the run, with capacity for many more. Participants will receive a shirt, bag, ride on the Greek Peak Mountain Coaster, and post-Challenge BBQ and bonfire. Interested individuals and teams can learn more or register at http://tuffenuff.greekpeak.
According to Kimberly Friedman of Cortland Prevention Resources, “We’re lucky to have a special opportunity for people in recovery to do the race at no charge. In the end, we hope all the runners will recognize the ways that mastering the course challenges really represent the way we have to overcome life challenges”.
All proceeds will benefit programs and services in Tompkins and Cortland counties that foster hope and promote healthy choices through the Nonprofit sponsors.
