Cortland Regional Medical Center Welcomes Dr. Robert J. Arleo

Dr. Robert J. Arleo, renowned cataract surgeon, has joined the staff at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Eye surgery patients in the Cortland area now have Dr. Arleo’s expertise at their disposal without the necessity of traveling to Ithaca for surgery. For pre-op and post-op care, eye patients will still benefit from the skills and service of the ophthalmologists and optometrists at Arleo Eye Associates, located at 100 Uptown Road in Ithaca, NY.

Dr. Arleo has performed upwards of 15,000 eye surgeries to date, including surgeries for cataract and glaucoma, the two most common forms of eye conditions. He performs surgeries for other types of eye conditions with varying ranges of complexity. Dr. Arleo has also made educational DVDs that are used in the industry for ophthalmic surgeons, consulted on new ophthalmological surgical products, lectured nationally and internationally, and has been a primary FDA investigational site for a number of products used in cataract surgery.

After four years as an undergrad at Hofstra University, Dr. Arleo spent an additional four years at SUNY Downstate, where he received his M.D. He continued on to SUNY Upstate, where he spent his four-year residency and internship. He then joined the practice at 100 Uptown Road in Ithaca, known at the time as Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Ithaca. In  2002, it became known as Arleo Eye Associates. Dr. Arleo has practiced in that same location for a total of nineteen years.

Including Dr. Arleo, there are currently three ophthalmologists and four optometrists who practice at Arleo Eye Associates. There are easily 100 collective years of eye care experience among all of the practitioners at Arleo Eye Associates.
