The Columbian Presbyterian Church in LaFayette is proud of all of the ways that they support the needy in the local community, as well as in the nation and the world. To that end, the generous members of the church, located at the corners of Routes 11 & 20 in LaFayette, will be hosting their annual Memorial Day Benefit for LaFayette Outreach, Inc., on Monday May 28, from 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 noon on the church grounds.
LaFayette Outreach, Inc., was established in 1981 through the cooperation of five LaFayette-area churches. Soon after that, the members of the Columbian Presbyterian Church decided that they would make supporting LaFayette Outreach a priority. A Community Outreach committee was established, and fund-raising ideas were suggested. Where could they raise funds and awareness where the community would be sure to notice? Why not get the public’s attention while they were gathered for a local parade? That is how the Memorial Day Benefit for LaFayette Outreach was established.
From it’s humble beginnings as a garage sale, the Benefit has evolved into an event that includes a silent auction, bake sale, plant sale, “Red, White & Blue Ice Cream Sundaes,” and a free kid’s craft area. Church members spend a lot of time and effort putting together this wonderful community event, so please join them on Memorial Day and show your support for this worthy cause.
