Meets Mondays, Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 12 & 19 and Jan. 9 & 16
Choose 10:00-Noon OR 6:00-8:00pm
at CCE-Tompkins Education Center, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca
Are you a new or expectant mom who wants to nurse her baby? If so, you may qualify for free Breastfeeding Support.
Women who are eligible for WIC, Medicaid , Food Stamps or similar programs can attend this FREE workshop series.
“Breastfeeding for the Health of It” classes meet on 6 mornings from 10:00 am – 12:00 Noon OR 6 evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Pick the time that is most convenient for you, and join any time – classes are ongoing and topics are repeated in the next set of workshops!
In this class, you will meet other moms and our staff, and will learn about these topics:
- Mother’s Health (you will receive a free nutrient assessment at the first meeting!) (11/28)
- Breastfeeding: It’s the Norm! (12/5)
- Changes that occur during pregnancy that get you ready to breastfeed your baby (12/12)
- Confronting Barriers: How to breastfeed in public and laws that protect nursing mothers (12/19)
- How to pump and store breast milk — learn how long breast milk can be kept at room temperature, in the refrigerator and in the freezer (1/9)
- How to position your baby to get proper latch and prevent sore nipples (1/16)
When you attend these sessions, you will go home with items such as: baby wipes with convenient portable case, disposable breast pads, medicine dropper, baby’s 1st year calendar, fever thermometer and various other items of interest to parents with a new baby.
