Harvest Dinner at Early Morning Farm
Posted by Dustin Horton // July 23, 2011 // News
Culinary enthusiasts shouldn’t miss this opportunity to experience a memorable fine dining event in the stunningly beautiful fields of Early Morning Farm featuring a locally sourced gourmet dinner prepared by Executive Chef Gregory Rhoad of Aurora Inn and paired with wine from Bet the Farm Winery.
Starting at 5pm guests will enjoy a wine and hors d’oeuvre reception with live music and an optional farm tour followed by a five course dinner paired with wine.
The menu will be created from the food harvested from just steps away and prepared in front of guests with a beautiful evening view of the summer sunset. Throughout the evening, guest farmers, winemakers, specialty food producers and chefs will share the stories behind the making of our region’s best culinary fare.
All proceeds will benefit Healthy Food For All, a partnership of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County with family-owned farms to make fresh produce accessible to households with limited income. Every year harvest dinners on area farms raise funds to provide over 125 WIC & Food Stamp eligible families with a bountiful assortment of local organic produce from June through November for a price they can afford through subsidized Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. Healthy Food for All participants can also take free nutritional cooking classes and food preservation workshops to gain skills and ideas of how to prepare the variety of produce in their shares.
Tickets start at $75 per person (all-inclusive) and may be purchased by going to www.healthyfoodforall.org or contacting harvestdinners@gmail.com or 607-342-8845. Seating is limited so purchase early!
This is the third in a series of six harvest dinners on area farms to benefit Healthy Food For All. For the full schedule of 2011 harvest dinners with menus and more info, please visit www.healthyfoodforall.org or contact harvestdinners@gmail.com
