Swingin’ on Cayuga 2011

The ITHACA SWING DANCE NETWORK proudly presents SWINGIN’ ON CAYUGA 2011 on SUNDAY August 7, 2011, a day of FREE workshops and dancing in the Large Pavilion, Stewart Park.

There will be lots of introductory classes and no experience or dance
partner is needed. ISDN wants to share the joy of dancing with others.
Bring a friend!

1:30-3:00  Introductory workshop in the Waltz with RICHARD ESHELMAN
This is an elegant and joyful partner dance that became the first
world dance craze.

3:00-4:00 Introduction to the Shim-Sham with AMANDA BARTLEY
This group line dance from the 30s is still performed by lindy hoppers!

4:00-5:00 Introductory West Coast Swing with RICH CURTIS
Smooth R&B: Slower, smooth style swing perfect for modern popular
music like R&B, blues, club, country, smooth jazz and pop music.

5-6 DINNER DISH-TO-PASS.
Folks are encouraged to share food. Bring your own plates and silver, etc.

6 -7 Introductory 6-COUNT SWING lesson with CINDY OVERSTREET
This is basically the same as jitterbug or East Coast Swing.

7-9:30 SWING DANCE with DJ TOM PEPE.
A favorite of the Central New York swing scene, Tom will serve up a
variety of swing tunes for most every taste and style.
