Spirit-Rhythm 2011: Drumming and Dancing in the Forest

Spirit-Rhythm will be focused on Ritual Dancing and Drumming in a freestyle fire dance format made popular at numerous well known pagan and magickal festivals. The ritual focus is “beyond the beyond.”

We will create and celebrate community through American Pagan Freestytle spirit and trance drumming and sacred magickal dance.

The dancers will be free form flowing around the fire clockwise while the drummers drum together in a group shaped like a horseshoe.The drumming is open and free style with the understanding that the dancers, whether there is one or twenty, are the focus. The workshops are there to gain knowledge about the mechanics/basics of drumming and dancing but you are free with in the henge to dance and play the as your spirit feels is the best way to encourage the dance.

This is a space to bring our talents into the service of divine rhythmic interplay. While we may play slower rhythms and the dancers may be semi-stationary, during day jams for instance, the intensity and energy are always focused. DANCERS YOU WILL BE LOVED!! Be ready to throw down and make memories!!!

The space where this will take place is being called the ‘Well’ as in a kind of spirit well we can all dip our cup in for sustenance. The space may also be referred to as the henge as it is a simple wood-henge type structure.

But the main indegrediant is us.  For it is us who will create the supreme personality, to take root and grow.
