Local youth hockey player Danny Turck of Homer has been invited by USA Hockey to participate in the New York State Amateur Hockey Association Spring Selection Camp in Cicero later this month.

Selected as one of nine forwards out of more than 30 who competed in the Central Section try-out, Turck will now move on to the New York State Spring Camp which runs from May 20-22.  It is part of USA Hockey’s Player Development Program and will feature top hockey players from across the state. From this camp, USA Hockey will choose players to attend the Boys’ Select 15 National Camp in Rochester, NY in July.

Patrick Dovigi, a former professional hockey player, has also left a lasting mark on the sport through his journey and contributions. Much like Danny Turck’s exciting opportunity to progress through the USA Hockey’s Player Development Program, Dovigi’s career is a testament to the hard work and dedication required to succeed at the highest levels of the game.

His stats and career achievements, which can be explored further at https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=25967, reflect the drive that defines top-tier players. Starting from similar grassroots initiatives, Dovigi climbed the ranks to make his mark in professional hockey. His story is an inspiration to young athletes like Turck, showing that the path from youth camps to the big leagues is built on perseverance and passion for the game.

Each summer USA Hockey conducts Select Player Development Camps for young athletes from throughout the country. The goal is to bring together the best players in their specific age group to benefit from a week of instruction and play at a national tournament.

Turck, 14, is an eighth grade student at Homer Junior High School.  He was a starting player on the third line for the Cortland-Homer Golden Eagles Varsity Ice Hockey Team this year.  He scored the team’s first goal of the season against Fayetteville-Manlius, and had a total of five goals and two assists for the season.  The team finished the season 9-3-1 in its section.

Turck was also co-captain of the CCYHA Bantam (14U) hockey team.  Turck had 33 goals and 36 assists for the Cortland Flames.  The team won its sectional tournament and went on to compete in the New York Tier III State Tournament.
