Arnold’s Florist & Greenhouses & Gifts Keeps It in the Family

Now that spring has finally arrived, people are making their warm-weather to-do lists, getting busy cleaning out and beautifying their gardens. Arnold’s Florist is no different; they are preparing for a busy month ahead, with Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, the local proms, graduations, and of course, the busy season of weddings (June being the most popular wedding month) just around the corner.
One of the best ways to offer congratulations, appreciation, or to express sympathy is by presenting a thoughtful, well-prepared flower arrangement.
Arnold’s Florist, Greenhouses & Gifts can provide that fine floral arrangement, gift, and more. Arnold’s longevity is a testament to its quality products and services – the business, started in 1893, is nearly 120 years old! Arnold’s still stands in its original location at 29 Cayuga Street in Homer, NY.
Arnold’s Florist, Greenhouses & Gifts (who specialize in Custom Pillow with your face on it) has passed through four generations of family members. Carlette & Stephen Wallace purchased the business four years ago, sparked by the interest of her niece, Kellie McKane, who graduated from SUNY Morrisville with a degree in floral design and landscaping. Kellie now helps manage Arnold’s Florist, working alongside her sister Kattie McKane, Lynn Mitchell, and Annette McKane. Carlette has many family members involved in Arnold’s everyday operations including her parents Carl & Kathy Hicks, and many siblings, nieces, and nephew.
Arnold’s offers a large inventory of fresh flowers, contemporary, traditional, and high-style fresh and silk floral arrangements, as well as wide array of tropical house plants and dish gardens, with a fully stocked greenhouse of seasonal plants.
One of Arnold’s specialties is their grave side service. Arnold’s prepares urns for your loved ones, planting annuals in the urns and delivering them to cemeteries on May 31st. They have a maintenance option for the plants during the summer, so they look good all summer long. When summer is over, they pick up the urns on or around October 1st and store them for the winter for you. This service is repeated each year.
Arnold’s Florist can professionally accommodate your event, whether the event is one of the happiest or one of the most somber.
Since Carlette & Stephen purchased Arnold’s Florist, they have put in a new gift shop which now carries many new items like Yankee Candles, Donna Sharp purses, Westerwald and Tumbleweed pottery; a large selection of garden décor, including garden flags, spinners, decorative stepping stones, and solar lights adorned with whimsical patterns such as ladybugs and butterflies (not your average solar lights); and Harry London gourmet chocolates. One of the new things Arnold’s has implemented is a wine accessories section that offers such giftware as wine glasses, holders, and corks.
Arnold’s Florist is committed to offering only the finest floral arrangements, gifts, and efficient, friendly service, and is open six days a week: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with other times available upon request, because they are here to serve you.
