Red Cross Aids Victims of Dryden Apartment Building Fire

Posted by  //  March 12, 2011  //  News

An early-morning fire in Dryden damaged a two-story apartment building on West Main Street and displaced five families living in the building. Red Cross volunteers from the Tompkins County Chapter were called to the scene to aid the fire victims. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze.

Currently, according to this content, the Red Cross is providing financial disaster relief to three of the displaced households. The fourth household did not request assistance and the fifth family was not at home when the fire broke out. Red Cross financial assistance is being used to provide shelter, food and clothing to the fire victims and one household is also receiving replacement bedding.

All the households, including the absent family, may receive additional Red Cross disaster assistance, including trauma counseling and financial support to secure permanent housing.

The American Red Cross is a charitable organization, not a government agency, and relies on donations to fund its free humanitarian services.
