June 11 – Dryden Seniors to Meet

There will NOT be a Senior Lunch on Monday, May 28 due to Memorial Day. Our last Senior Lunch for the spring will be on June 11, 2012.

There will be NO lunches in July and August. Our first lunch in the fall will be Monday, September 10.

The Dryden Senior Citizens will meet on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Dryden Fire Hall. Lunch is served at 12:15 pm with announcements starting at 11:45 am. Please bring your own table service.

The meal cost for members is $6.00 and $8.00 for non-members. The menu will be BBQ chicken, baked beans, salt potatoes, macaroni salad, and ice cream sundaes.

Entertainment to be announced.

June 2 – Lavender Plant Sale to Benefit the Skaneateles Fire Department

Lockwood Lavender Farm will be selling (cash or check) Royal Velvet Lavender plants while the supply last for $5.00 each to benefit the Skaneateles Fire Department. Our lavender market will also be open every Saturday and Sunday, from 9 – 4.

Royal Velvet Lavender has deep purple flower spikes and is hardy to our zone 5. It can be harvested fresh as a bouquet and dries well. The buds can be used for culinary purposes or aromatherapy.

We will also be offering a workshop on how to grow lavender successfully on Saturday, June 2nd at 1:00 rain or shine.

Directions to Lockwood Lavender Farm: From the village of Skaneateles take Kane Road/41A. Continue south on West Lake Road/41A 6.8 miles. Pass the hamlet of Mandana, we are the first farm past fire lane 50 on the left hand side.

May 26 – 11th Annual Primitive Pursuits Day

Enjoy old time music by local bands while wilderness skills instructors from across Central New York offer hands-on wilderness survival and outdoor living skills workshops and activities for kids and adults. Activities scheduled throughout the day include flint-knapping, frictionfire workshops, guided tree ID walks, tracking walks, basket-making,games, and much more! Events go on RAIN or SHINE! – we have covered space in case of wet weather. Music by Sunny Weather, Steve Selin andFriends, Curt Osgood & Friends, Luke Gustafson, Uncle Joe & the Rose Bud Ramblers! 1-3pm, Lime Hollow Visitor Center, 338 McLean Rd.Celebrate the beginning of summer with this multi-sensory event that brings the community together. Let the sound of music guide you along the trails of Lime Hollow. This event features local musicians playing various instruments on our trails. Held rain or shine! Members $5 per person, non-members $6 per person, children 3 and under – free. This event is made possible with funds from the New York State Cultural Resources Council. 10am – 2pm, Cortland County Airport. Classic car cruise with live music, food, and a special “car cruise” from the airport and back for all participants. This event is open to all makes, models and years of automobiles. Sponsored by 7 Valley Street Rods. Net proceeds from events go to local charities.
