The Village of Marathon, proudly welcomes you to its nationally acclaimed annual Maple Festival on April 7 & 8. There is no admission fee, plenty of free parking, free entertainment and even a free sample of warm maple syrup.  To many Central New York families, the CNY Maple Festival has become a tradition, a rite of spring, a necessary part of welcoming the changing of the season. So, make a date with the family and come to Marathon, keep the family tradition.

The sweet smell of maple syrup boiling over the wood fire is in the air. The days are getting longer, the weather a bit more mild and the sun higher in the sky. Marathon folks have celebrated their heritage in a very public way for the past 48 years. They have been inviting the whole world to come to one of “America’s Best Small Towns” to learn about their forefathers, who respected nature and used the sap of the mighty maple trees to produce the necessary maple syrup, which they used in their cabins and kitchens. Whether it was made into maple cream, maple candy or granulated maple sugar it was a precious product to enjoy or trade.

Visitors will learn the facts and see the syrup making process. They will enjoy: pancakes smothered in fresh maple syrup. But there are other foods that sport the mighty maple flavor that Marathon folks want to share with you: maple bacon, maple pulled pork, maple hot dogs, maple coffee, maple soda, maple hot chocolate, maple popcorn, maple cotton candy and more.

So, it is time to carry on the family tradition and come to Marathon. See the Pancake Eating Contest, visit the maple syrup making demonstration, enjoy the historical exhibits, admire the quilts in the Quilt Show, check out the used book sale in the library, chat with the Mountain Men camping on the Village Green, enjoy the free entertainment in the High School Auditorium, visit with the Maple Festival Queen and her court, feast your eyes on the juried craft show with over 70 booths, there is much to see, enjoy and do.
