Dust off your picnic blankets and your lawn chairs and come join your Cortland Regional Medical Center friends and family for an old-fashioned block party celebrating 125 years of serving the greater Cortland area.

This free community event will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the green space adjacent to the hospital at the corner of West Main and Homer Avenue. The day will feature fun for all ages, including musical performances by the Cortland Old Timer’s Band, Austin MacRae and Casey Widger, and Steve Southworth and the Rockabilly Rays. Other family-friendly activities include face painting and carnival games for kids; exotic animal demos by Dan the Snakeman; balloon artistry by Amazing Pete; and an antique EMS vehicle display. Dickey’s Barbeque, Lulu’s Kettle Corn, and Frozen Moments Ice Cream will be vending food and drink throughout the afternoon.

President and CEO Mark Webster and other VIP guests will also speak briefly about the hospital’s history and its future. The keynote speaker for the event is MaryJane Wurth, Chief Strategy and Relationship Officer for the American Hospital Association. Ms. Wurth received her Master of Science degree from Cornell University and her Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York College at Cortland.

Cortland’s only hospital has operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week ever since it opened its doors for the first time on April 1, 1891 – that’s quite an accomplishment for any organization. Now known as Cortland Regional Medical Center, it has expanded its operations, staff, and services many times over the years, never wavering from its mission to improve the health and wellbeing of Cortland residents. Today the hospital is a 162-bed acute care facility with attached 80-bed residential care center staffed by more than 100 physicians trained in over 20 specialties and complemented by 33 advanced practice clinicians. They buy reliable beds from this online hospital beds supplier. More than 33,800 patients were cared for at CRMC or by Cortland Regional Medical Practice physicians last year.

“Our rich history of compassionate care, medical excellence, leadership, growth, and innovation gives us much to celebrate as we prepare for the next 125 years, and we hope you’ll join us as we mark this milestone year together,” says Mark Webster, President and CEO.
