8th Annual Cortland Arts and Wine Festival August 2

Posted by  //  July 27, 2014  //  News

The Cultural Council of Cortland County invites you to our 8th Annual Cortland Arts and Wine Festival held on August 2.  We have events for everyone in the beautiful setting of the Cortland County Courthouse Park.  Live music featuring local bands alternating between two stages begins at 10 am when artists and artisan crafters will also have their booths ready for viewing and purchases.

For youngsters and those with younger knees, the 3rd Annual Sidewalk Chalk Painting Contest will begin at 11 am with a $10 registration fee. The Commercial Art Supply of Syracuse sponsors the event and will again donate the chalk.  Awards will be given. We are looking forward to seeing some exciting creations!

For those of you over 21, the wine tasting tent will open at Noon.  Tickets can be purchased at the tent or online at www.cortlandartsandwine.org beforehand at a discount.  This year we will have 18 wineries including several making their inaugural appearance.

We will also have a selection of local and regional food vendors including the Chicken Bandit Food Truck & Eatery from Syracuse.

As a new attraction, the 7 Valley Street Rods will be holding a small but unique car show. The show will be limited to about 40 “artistic” cars in the parking lot on Church St., right next to the Festival. As part of the show, viewers will be invited to vote for their favorite and, much like the wine tent, a “People’s Choice” award will be presented at the end of the day.

The Cortland Arts and Wine Festival continues all day until 5pm.  The Cultural Council of Cortland County hopes you will come down and support our local artists, proven to be vital for a thriving community!
